A dental crown is a custom-made "cap" that fits over a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth to restore its shape, strength, and functionality. Crowns can be crafted from several mediums, including gold, porcelain bonded to metal, and all-ceramic materials, each offering a different balance of durability and aesthetics.

They're great for patients who have a cracked tooth, a tooth with a large filling, or one that's undergone root canal treatment. However, you'll need to schedule an appointment with our team to see whether it's a solution that fits your oral health needs.

Getting a dental crown typically takes two visits to our Marlton office. At your first appointment, our team will prepare the tooth by removing any damaged structure or decay, along with a small amount of enamel to make room for the restoration.

We'll then use our digital impression system to capture a precise map of your prepared tooth, which is sent to a local dental lab for fabrication. But you won't be without a tooth! Before you leave, we'll attach a temporary crown to protect your smile while you wait.

Once your permanent crown arrives, you'll return to our office to have the temporary removed and the final restoration checked, adjusted, and bonded into place. From there, simply brush, floss, and keep up with regular checkups to help your crown last for years to come.

A dental crown not only repairs a broken or decayed tooth—it also restores your ability to eat, speak, and smile without worry. Some of its great benefits include:

  • Tooth Protection: Shields a vulnerable tooth from further decay or fracture
  • Natural Appearance: Crafted to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth
  • Restored Function: Bite and chew comfortably without pain or sensitivity
  • Long-Lasting: Dental crowns are extremely durable and last for 10 to 15 years or more with proper care.
